Folios 307-308: Joshua Sydney Horton, Regulating Captain, Liverpool. Encloses a certificate from Commander Edward Killwick and the Surgeon of HMS Princess which he feels justifies his treatment of Marmada Jack [Jack Marmady], which the Admiralty have censured him for. Also reports that W Taylor is the person who argued the case for the seaman Hyde against Lieutenant James Rees and that Mr Taylor is wrong when he asserts that Hyde is the son of a prince and no older than 13. He is in possession of affidavits which disprove both these suggestions and thinks the Admiralty should consider these before they discharge him.
Folio 309: enclosure with folios 307-308. Certificate signed by Commander Edward Killwick and Surgeon Joseph Dallaway, HMS Princess, Liverpool, 9 August 1809. They have examined John Marmady and are convinced he is aged 20 and an able-bodied man, fit for the Navy.
