Description

Folios 236-237: Joshua Sydney Horton, Regulating Captain, Liverpool. Reports John Little of Whitehaven, Mate of the Elizabeth of Worthington, was impressed on 18 July by Lieutenant Thomas Evans after being found ashore at night. Asks the Admiralty to direct the Navy Board to reimburse him for surgical attendance and medicines for his four press gangs. Reports that he impressed John Sharrock the previous day because he was obstructing Lieutenant Evans and his gang. Encloses his previous certificate of discharge from HMS Salvador del Mundo.

Folio 238: enclosed with folios 236-237. Admiralty note with directions for dealing with Regulating Captain Joshua Sydney Horton's letter.

Folios 239-240: enclosed with folios 236-237. Letter dated 22 July 1809 from William Falcon, care of John Palmer, Brooks Square, Liverpool, to the Admiralty. He is Master of the Elizabeth of Whitehaven, recently arrived from Barbados. Asks for the discharge of John Little, Mate of the Elizabeth, recently impressed on shore.

Folios 241-242: enclosed with folios 236-237. Letter dated 21 July 1809 from John Little, HMS Princess, Liverpool, to the Admiralty. As he was impressed while Mate of the Elizabeth, asks for his discharge if he can find two substitutes.

Folios 243-244: enclosed with folios 236-237. Letter dated 22 June 1809 from the Admiralty to T Sharrock, 15 Wapping, Liverpool. Reports that they have ordered the discharge of John Sharrock from HMS Salvador del Mundo as two substitutes have been produced.

Folio 245: enclosed with folios 236-237. Discharge certificate signed by Captain Thomas Wolley for John Skirnt alias John Sharrock from HMS Salvador del Mundo, 24 June 1809, as Regulating Captain Joshua Sydney Horton, Liverpool, has received two substitutes.
