Description

Folios 207-208: Joshua Sydney Horton, Regulating Captain, Liverpool. Reports on the impressment of five men, William Hughes (an American), William Jones, Edward Evans [Edward Evens] , John Owens, and John Warren. Descriptions of the men provided along with details of their impressment.

Folios 209-210: enclosed with folios 207-208. Letter dated 15 July 1809 from George Orred, Liverpool to the Admiralty. Seeks the discharge of William Jones, owner of the brig Ceres, recently impressed at Liverpool and now aboard HMS Princess. Encloses a bill for the sale of the Ceres to William Jones.

Folio 211: enclosed with folios 207-208. Certificate of the sale of the brig Ceres on 12 April 1809 to from William Hastie of Greenock and merchant John J Tucker of Bermuda to William Jones.

Folios 212-213: enclosed with folios 207-208. Letter dated 15 July 1809 from Edward Evens, HMS Princess, Liverpool to the Admiralty. Asks for his discharge if he can obtain two substitutes.

Folios 214-215: enclosed with folios 207-208. Letter dated 13 July 1809 by John Walthin, Liverpool to the Admiralty. Seeks the discharge of John Owens, impressed out of the Duke of Richmond packet. Owens has a bad leg, and has been impressed before and then discharged because of this injury.

Folios 216-217: enclosed with folios 207-208. Letter dated 15 July 1809 from W Baldwin, Solicitor, Liverpool to the Admiralty. Writes on behalf of John Warren seeking the discharge of his son, also John Warren, apprentice to William Jones and Thomas Wilson. Encloses [not present] his indenture.
