Folios 573-574: Joshua Sydney Horton, Regulating Officer, Liverpool. Replying to the letter of 8 May regarding Charles Woodward, born in Crumpton. He entered with Lieutenant Rees on 25 April as a Landsman Volunteer. He was perfectly sober and expressed a wish to serve. He returns the enclosure.
Folios 575-576: enclosure with folios 573-574. Petition dated 5 May 1809 from Sarah Woodward, 53 Plumb Street, Liverpool, to The Admiralty for the discharge of her son Charles Woodward. He is a dealer in flour and other groceries and was pressed when inebriated. He is the only support of the petitioner and of his widowed sister and her children. He has debts and his shop remains shut. Begs for his discharge in exchange for a substitute.
