Folios 571-572: Joshua Sydney Horton, Regulating Officer, Liverpool. Reports that John Baptist, who was pressed by Lieutenant Evans on 25 April on information that he was a native of Jersey, was re-examined (on board HMS Princess in the presence of Captain Colquitt). Further investigation has revealed that he is not a native of Jersey, but was born in Dunkirk. Having spent a considerable time in the American Service, he was sent to an English Merchant Vessel against his wishes, to navigate her to Liverpool. Recommends therefore that he is discharged, and leaves it to The Admiralty to decide whether he should be sent to prison, which he prefers to serving on board an English Man of War. Likewise, the case of Pedro Sebastian, pressed by Lieutenant Clarke on 16 April belonging to a Jersey vessel. On re-examination by Captain Colquitt he appears to be Spanish, and Captain Horton seeks his discharge.
