Folios 211-212: Joshua Sydney Horton, Regulating Officer, Liverpool. Sends a letter which appears to show that Elizabeth McFarran has raised the 2 substitutes required for the release of John McFarran, currently serving on HMS Tonnant at Portsmouth. It appears that the certificate she sent to The Admiralty has been lost. Requests the discharge of John McFarran.
Folio 213: enclosure with folios 211-212. Letter dated 25 July 1808 by John Farrow, Workington, Cumberland, to Mrs Elizabeth McFarran. Her petition of 22 July for the discharge of her husband, currently on board HMS Salvador del Mundo, was sent to The Admiralty. They have agreed, on production of 2 able-bodied Landsmen as substitutes to the nearest Regulating Officer. A certificate that they have been received should be sent and the order for his discharge will be given.
