Folios 96-97: Joshua Sydney Horton, Regulating Officer, Liverpool. Responding to the letter of 16 January. John Griffiths was pressed by Lieutenant Evans on 10 December. He was born in Wales and said he belonged to the Earl of Moira Packet. He was taken on shore from a Public House at 10:30 at night. Reports that the books at the Rendezvous show the following men were received as substitutes for Thomas Sheppard in 1807: Philip Macarty, Landsman Volunteer (December 3), Samuel Frazer, Ordinary Volunteer (December 4), Samuel Webb, Able Seaman Volunteer (December 7). He returns the enclosure.
Folio 98: enclosure with folios 96-97. Letter dated 14 January 1809 by John Gibbons, 5 Nova Scotia, Liverpool, to The Admiralty, 14 January 1809. John Griffiths, an ordinary seaman belonging to the Earl of Moira Packet was pressed on 10 December and is now on board HMS Princess. He is willing to find substitutes for his discharge.
