Folios 234-235: John Hayes, HMS Alfred, Spithead. He writes about the allowance awarded to him for entertaining some army officers that he brought home to England. These were 4 officers and their suites, Majors General Ferguson and Dyott, Brigadier Generals Alten and Craufurd. For this he was granted £150. He finds however, that this same amount has been granted to Captains who accommodated and entertained only one or two General officers. He mentions as an example Captain Carden of HMS Ville de Paris has been allowed an even larger sum. He asks for the matter to be reviewed particularly as Brigadier Generalks Alten and Craufurd were on board much longer than any of the other officers that embarked at Corunna. He encloses a list of the officers he accommodated.
