Folios 267-268: Henry Hotham, HMS Defiance, off Ferrol. Has received the letters relating to the mission from the envoys of the General Junta of Asturias. Lord Canning wants help to be given to the Spanish monarchy. He communicated with the Assembly of Galacia at Corunna. They have sent envoys so he asked Captain Tremlett of HMS Alemene to take them to Lord Gambier.
Folio 269: enclosure with folios 267-268. Letter dated 13 June 1808 by Henry Hotham, HMS Defiance, off Corunna. He has had the letter sent by Francisco Sangero and has sent his answer so he will inform the Admiral of the communications. The boats were fired at yesterday because they avoided the frigate after she requested to speak to them. The shot that hit them was an accident.
