Folios 206-207: Sydney Horton, Regulating Officer, Liverpool. John Thomas, who says he was born Philadelphia, was impressed by Lieutenant Rees because his enclosed protection does not match and he has a strong Irish accent. William Bourman, aged 45, was impressed by Lieutenant Baly from the Donegal. The Surgeon says he is fit. Anthony Fernandez says he was born in Portugal but came here in the Susanna as a native of Jersey. Patt Clarke was impressed by Lieutenant Clarke and he says he is the Master of the Auspicious but the Owners would not send the cargo to Liverpool unless his father's name was on the register of Masters. He is bone fide the executive Mate. As the cargo of the Auspicious is perishable, he allowed Patt Clarke to discharge it on assurance that a substitute would be found. He has retained the Register but has allowed the vessel to clear.
Folios 208-209: enclosure with folios 206-207. Letter dated 28 December 1808 by William Bourman, HMS Princess, Liverpool. He has been discharged from the Royal Hospital Hasler having served aboard HMS Madras for 12 years but was impressed as a deserter. He asks that they investigate the books and show he is a loyal Seaman until infirmity ended his career.
Folios 210-211: enclosure with folios 206-207. Letter dated 14 December 1808 by John Prize, HMS Gladiator, Portsmouth. To Mr Bourman. States that Mr Bourman ws aboard HMS Gladiator from Dungeness on the 9th November and was found unserviceable by a survey at the Hasler.
Folio 212: enclosure with folios 206-207. P. Ulnwood. Printed note to say that William Bourman Sailmaker, HMS Donegal and is discharged after a survey at Hasler.
Folios 213-214: enclosure with folios 206-207. Letter dated 19 December 1808 by Lewis Severino, HMS Princess, Liverpool. He is a native of Trehilo [on the coast of Frime] and put in prison in Jamaica but discharged on the peace with Spain but had no protection and asks to be discharged as he has little understanding of English.
Folios 215-216: enclosure with folios 206-207. Letter dated 20 December 1808 by John Peach, no 15 Old Dock. Offers to find two landsmen for Antonio Fernandez, native of Jersey.
Folios 217-218: enclosure with folios 206-207. Letter dated 20 December 1808 by John Topham, Public Office, Liverpool. He is sending a petition for Pat Clarke and hopes that the ship will be released as its delay is causing loss to the owners.
Folios 219: enclosure with folios 206-207. Petition of Patrick Clarke and John Clarke. Pat Clarke has been Master of the Auspicious for a year but was impressed as he had no papers but he has now shown them to Captain Horton. The petitioner was appointed Master to protect him from the press. Mr Crowther came aboard HMS Princess and explained that the sloop could not be discharged without Horton's permission. Captain Horton agreed but then did not release the sloop's register unless Patt Clarke goes to the Rendez vous to HMS Princess. He asks for the return of the papers and release from the impress. John and Patt Clarke appeared before James Gerrard, Mayor of Liverpool with Patt Clarke as Master of the Auspicious
