Description

Folios 200-201: Sydney Horton, Regulating Officer, Liverpool. Christian Henry Stone who says he was born in Stalsund, was impressed by Lieutenant Evans, along with a Mate from an American ship. He has already sent a protection for Stone dated 1806 but the description does not match. This Mate never considered him to be a foreigner and never knew him to have a protection until he came to Liverpool. Thomas Burnon was impressed by Lieutenant Evans and was born in the West Indies and came here in the Clarence. He says he has a wound in the thigh but the Surgeon says it is a flesh wound and he is fit. William Grimes was impressed by Lieutenant Clarke. He said he was a Ropemaker apprenticed to Mr Greatham, who refused to claim him, so he entered as a volunteer and has been sent to HMS Princess.

Folios 202-203: enclosure with folios 200-201. Letter dated 18 December 1808 by Richard Conan, 53 Upper Frederick Street, Liverpool. Thomas Burnon was impressed and has been two years at sea. He is wounded in the thigh and is of weak health so he asks if he can be exchanged for a landsman.

Folios 204-205: enclosure with folios 200-201. Letter dated 17 December 1808 by William Grimes, HMS Princess, Liverpool. He is apprenticed to Benjamin Thomas Greatham, Ropemaker, so he asks for his liberty as his indentures are legal.
