Folios 639-640: Thomas [Hannaford] Hurd, Sloane Street. Having received orders to proceed on a survey of the Sea Coast from Pool to the Lizard. He requests to furnish himself with Colonel Mudges Trigonometrical Survey of the South Coast of Britain as published by William Faber as well as a compass after the pattern of that now in the Admiralty. He also requests to be furnished with a Copy of such Charts of the Sea Coast he is directed to examine as also with Massey's Machine for taking Soundings.
