Folios 603-604: Thomas Hurd, Plymouth. Reports that the cutter he is using in his survey of Brest needed a refit so he has returned to Plymouth. Most of his time has been occupied in surveying the Raz Passage and a channel on the west side of Beniquet Island leading into the Chenal du Four, which allows warships to avoid the guns at Conquet and St Matthew. In view of the worsening weather, asks whether the Admiralty wish him to discharge the cutter.
