Folios 598-599: Thomas Hurd, Sloane Street. Reports he is ready for whatever service the Admiralty requires. Asks if he could be supplied with a Station Pointer, which he has seen being used by Graeme Spence of the Hydrographic Office, working with Mr Mackenzie, and which he believes would help in his survey work.
Folio 600: enclosed with folios 598-599. Note signed by Graeme Spence, the Hydrographic Office, not dated. Reports that the Station Pointer mentioned by Captain Thomas Hurd is used almost every day and cannot be spared. For that reason it was not returned to the stores at Sheerness in 1803.
