Folios 266-267: James Hawes, HMS Moucheron, Plymouth Sound. Reports that under orders from Admiral William Young, he took despatches for Sir Alexander Ball and Vice Admiral Lord Collingwood and sailed for Malta. He put the despatches for Lord Collingwood aboard HMS Standard in Gibraltar Bay and arrived in Malta on 23 December 1805. He sailed from there three days later with despatches from the Governor and the Army, and under orders from senior officer Captain Richardson, he went to Cartagena to receive any orders from Lord Collingwood, but as he was not there proceeded to Gibraltar. He later found Lord Collingwood off Cadiz and returned with his despatches to Plymouth.
