Folios 601-602: Lawrence William Halstead, HMS Namur, St Helens. He understood that a first Lieutenant of a line of battle ship required to have served for 6 years, which is why he reccommended Lieutenant Benjamin Sproate, yet Lieutenant Alexander Davidson, the first Lieutenant of another ship who has not served 6 years has been appointed to HMS Namur. He asks for Benjamin Sproate to be considered for the position of senior Officer as he is well acquainted with the ship and his methods. This is the first request he has made for a particular person to be appointed since taking command of the ship.
