Folios 495-496: John Hancock, HMS Cruizer, Harwich. He has been detained at Harwich because of the frost which delayed the vessel with their water coming down the River. The cistern at Longuard was frozen. The water is alongside and he will resume his station when the gale subsides. He is sending the report (not present) of the state and condition of the ship.
Folios 497-498: enclosure with folios 495-496 dated 1 February 1805 signed by James Hardy, for Captain George Lance, Agent to John Grant, Contractor for supplying provisions to HM ships at Harwich. He certifies that the demaind made by HMS Cruizer on 20 January 1805 was delayed by the weather and it was not possible to get water onboard until 31 January. No spirits were available locally and could not be brought from London due to ice preventing sailing.
