Folios 259-260: Lucius Ferdinand Hardyman, London. John [Hinswift] was a Seaman on board HMS La Forte under his command and after the loss of the ship was ordered aboard the armed ship Babel Mandel and then to the hospital ship Adam Smith under Lieutenant Douglas of HMS La Porte by order of Admiral Blanker. In 1801 Mr Cameron Acting Mate of HMS La Porte was doing duty at the hospital ship in the Red sea and said that John Hinswift had a wound in his right foot which was amputated.
