Folios 233-234: John Oakes Hardy, HMS St Albans, Downs. He issued extra grog when the ship HMS Thisbe went aground in Halifax in 1796 and a large proportion of the crew got frostbite so he sent extra rum to them in hospital. He feels he should not be charged with 107 gallons of rum because of the extremity of the circumstances.
