Folios 509-510: Philip Hue, HMS Actaeon, Liverpool. Responding to Admiralty queries of 24 and 25 September, says that John Mayor, and Thomas Garbutt, alias Joshua Billings, do appear to be the apprentices for whom the indentures were drawn up, and he has therefore released them as per their Lordships' instructions.
Folios 511-512: enclosure with folios 509-510. Statement from Daniel Mayor [Meyer], of Burslem, Stafford, hardwareman, that John Meyer who entered HM Service about a week previously, is apprenticed to Messrs Hugh Henshall and Robert Williamson of Longport, Stafford but had deserted his place on 9 September, also signed by James Brandreth, asking for the young man to be discharged.
Folios 513-514:enclosure with folios 509-510. Letter dated 23 September 1800 by R. Kirkpatrick, Liverpool, writes that Thomas Garbutt was bound apprentice to Joshua Bolenger, a 'poor but honest' shoemaker of Stafford, but had deserted his place. Sends his indentures [not now present] and hopes the boy may be discharged.
