Folios 632-633: Samuel Hood, HMS Courageux, Long Reach. Regarding Benjamin Clover, landsman on HMS Zealous, applying for discharge on condition of finding a man in his room, Hood explains he has served since 1796, always done his duty and has offered a man who is more able, brought up as a waterman and has been to the East Indies.
Folios 634-635: enclosure with folios 632-633. Letter dated 1 June 1800 from Hood to Hammond seeking his help to settle the matter.
Folios 636-637:enclosure with folios 632-633. Letter dated 1 May from Clover to Sir Andrew Hammond, Comptroller of His Majesty's Navy [and MP for Ipswich] explaining the reasons for seeking his discharge because of the distressed state of his family and seeking a speedy response;
