Folios 139-140: Joshua Sydney Horton, Admiralty. He encloses a letter from Lieutenant Williams, under his command, and states he is advanced in years and now incapable of performing his duty. He adds that Lieutenant J C Jones is not adequate to the duties of first Lieutenant and requests the appointment of an officer senior to him.
Folios 141-142: enclosure with folios 139-140. A letter dated 6 August 1799 by Lieutenant O Williams to Horton, HMS Fairy, Spithead. He requests to be superceded due to health issues and family business.
