Folios 110-111: George Hope, HMS Majestic, The Downs. Responds to a request from the Admiralty and names six men who were the ringleaders of the crew who at the time took possession of the ship with the intention of sailing her into Plymouth Sound with HMS Saturn. These have been pointed out by officers who were then on the ship. He adds that in Palermo, the previous summer, he had concerns but insufficient evidence to bring proceedings. However, he picked out five who had been heard to make improper expressions, punished them and turned them out of the Majestic, as an example. He cannot identify the ringleaders but from the information he has it was principally amongst the lower part of the crew and in particular, the Irish. He names in the margin, John Mortimer, Thomas Woodward, [James Goun?], James Gillespie, Thomas Sweet and Patrick Seagrove.
