Folios 161-162: Charles Hamilton, HMS Melpomene, Spithead. Receipt of orders to proceed with the African convoy, an Act of Parliament for the encouragement of trade and directions to report the condition of the forts on the coast. As their Lordships have generally permitted the Commanding Officer on that station the privilege of carrying a distinguishing pendant with its customary emoluments from the time he quits the Channel till his return he requests an order to that effect.
