Folios 150-151: Charles Hamilton, HMS Melpomene, Spithead. Reports his arrival. At the request of Lord Duncan he took under convoy from Yarmouth the Hercules laden with masts and spars and the Latona with Russians. The Latona has safely arrived but the Hercules fell so far behind due to the mismanagement of the Master that he imagines she put into Horsley Bay. He has sent a copy of his log so that they can see there was no lack of attention on his part and also a report of the defects of HMS Melpomene which are trivial.
Folios 152-153: enclosure with folios 150-151. Journal of the proceedings of HMS Melpomene from 7 to 9 December 1799, detailing the passage from within sight of Lowestoft Church past South Foreland lighthouse and into Spithead.
Folio 154: enclosure with folios 150-151. Report dated 9 December 1799 from Charles Hamilton, Captain, and Thomas Evans, Carpenter, of the defects of HMS Melpomene.
