Description

Folios 211-212: Richard Hill, HMS Tromp, Liverpool. Reports leaving Carrickfergus the Prison Ships as per the inclosed list, on Tuesday last. HMS Mag and the French Frigates got underway at the same time. The [?] proving very hazey and it blowing very fresh caused the convoy to separate but except the William James , they are all arrived. That ship he is informed is put into Beaumaris. He has disembarked the Prisoners from HMS Tromp. Those on board the Britannia and Postlethwaite are to disembark to day. He received your letter dated 19 October 1798 just as he got underway. His reply is that Jacob Jacobson has been married to an English Woman some time and she is settled at Liverpool, he has never received the Kings Bounty and if it is their Order I will discharge him immediately. He will return as soon as possible. Inclose are the Weekly Accounts for HMS Tromp [not present]. PS The Prince of Wales Scotch Revenue Ship arrived from Greenock with 134 Prisoners that she took out of HMS Amelia, a Tender and Cutter sailed at the same time with Prisoners on board. There is a Man of war coming in apparently HMS Hebe.
