Description

Folios 163-164: Richard Hill, HMS Tromp, Needles Passage near Lymington. Reports that at 10 O'clock last night he received orders from Admiral Sir Peter Parker Bart. to proceed to Cowes Road with HMS Tromp and wait for further orders. This morning at Day Light he attempted to unmoor the ship due to high winds but found it impossible. As soon a the wind abates he will proceed to Cowes Road. The Carpenters of HMS Tromp and HMS Ferret have been working on HMS Fury's bottom and since he wrote on 26 May 1798 she is found considerably worse than expected. He has ordered the Carpenters to send a report but he does not expect it before he sails.
