Description

Folios 159-160: Richard Hill, HMS Tromp, Needles Passage near Lymington. Covering letter for the enclosed Weekly Account of HMS Tromp, HMS Ferret, HMS Fury Gun Vessels and HMS Attack [not present]. HMS Attack is waiting here for the wind to change so she can sail for Plymouth. HMS Terror sailed for Portsmouth yesterday morning to be paid. Enclosed is a letter from Lieutenant [David] Burne [Burn] concerning the state of HMS Fury since it was received she has been obliged to quit Allum [Alum] Bay and he has ordered her to be hauled on the beach in Hurst Camber to stop her leaks. He has order a survey on her Cables and shall supply her from HMS Tromp. He has received a letter from Major General [George] Don [gives an extract]:- about a practice defence of the Isle of Wight and requesting the cooperation of the Naval Forces. [Mention of his plans for the guns being fires and request some different guns].
