Folios 212-213: Lawrence William Halstead, HMS Phoenix, at sea. Reports that he received intelligence yesterday and today of 2 large French Privateers cruising in Lat. 50 Deg. 0 Min. N, Long. 18 to 20 Deg. W. One is Le Brave and the other L'Hydra. Information about Le Brave came from 2 gentlemen who were captured in HMS Swallow and HMS Roebuck Packets approximately one month ago. They were allowed to take their passage to Europe in a ship called The ?Yonge Berand from Charlestown bound for Hamburg. It appears from their information that there is a probability of the vessels cruising in the same latitude. There are upwards of 50 English prisoners aboard The Brave, some of the Army Officers who were passengers in the Packets. Believing that he should cruise in search of them for a short time, he trusts this action meets with approval as he is sure he should meet them. He is sending this letter with the gentlemen in the ?Yonge Berand.
