Folios 262-263: John Gourly, Regulating Captain, Aberdeen. Responds to Admiralty letter, dated 24 June 1813, stating theat Andrew Gariden, Landsman, newly raised at Aberdeen has been found unfit for service and ordering him to withhold the reward and to account for having regulated him. States that Andrew Gariden was a Manufacturer at Glasgow, of suspicious character and troublesome to his friends in Aberdeen who were fearful of him operating illegally. Gives details of the process of his regulation and that he would never regulate an unfit person but that his natural desire to remove troublesome people from Aberdeen sometimes causes him to err.
