Folios 224-225: Edward Grey, HMS Fairy, Falmouth. Gives a detailed account of the events surrounding an attempt on 30 May 1813 to arrest William Leau Pascoe, Landsman, and remove him, under an arrest warrant, from HMS Fairy. Reports that William L Pascoe was brought on board the ship as a volunteer by James Slade, Captain, HMS Experiment on 23 May 1813. States that he refused to comply with the warrant without consulting Phipps Hornby, Captain, of HMS Stag who advised him that he was justified in not allowing William Pascoe to be arrested. Reports that on 30 May 1813 he received a letter enclosing a Notice of Action against him by Andrew Young Attorney at Law. Encloses a copy of the arrest warrant, a copy of the discharge note of William Leau Pascoe from HMS Experiment into HMS Fairy and a copy of the Notice of Action. Requests that directions are given to the Admiralty's Solicitor.
Folios 226-227: enclosure with folios 224-225: List of One Supernumerary discharged from HMS Experiment into HMS Fairy, dated 22 May 1813, signed by [H Harry?], Lieutenant. Lists William L Pascoe, Landsman, born in St Mawes, volunteered on 4 May 1813 and discharged from HMS Experiment into HMS Fairy on 22 May 1813.
Folio 228: enclosure with folios 224-225: Notice of Action, dated 31 May 1813, by Andrew Young, Attorney to Richard Roberts to Edward Grey, HMS Fairy. Informs Grey that an action will be taken against him for detaining and keeping William Leau Pascoe after he absconded from Richard Roberts, his Master and in particular for detaining him after Pascoe was in the custody of a Constable who had an arrest warrant from 2 Justices of the Peace.
Folio 229: enclosure with folios 224-225: Arrest warrant for William Leau Pascoe, Apprentice to Richard Roberts, Shipwright of St Just, Cornwall, dated 30 May 1813, signed by Arthur Kempe and Edward Rodd, Clerk and Justices of the Peace in Cornwall to the Constable of the Parish of St Just in Roseland.
