Description

Folios 213-214: John Gourly, Aberdeen. Advises he has neither been paid full or half pay for the period 7 August 1808, when he was appointed by the late Lord Cuthbert Collingwood, Admiral, to command HMS San Juan at Gibraltar, to when he was able to join the ship on 12 November 1808. Explains that at the time he was Acting Commander, HMS Tuscan, by order of the late Sir John Alexander Ball, Rear Admiral, and sent by him to the Barbary Coast with despatches and to bring to Malta a convoy from Susa [Sousse], Sfax and Tripoli and as a consequence was delayed joining HMS San Jan until 12 November 1808.
