Folios 75-76: James Galloway, HMS Princess, Liverpool.
Captain McLeod had sent him a letter from the Admiralty dated 13 March 1811 which he forwards back to the Admiralty with the enclosures [not present]. He reports his belief that William Williams came on board voluntarily with the man he came as a substitute for. He was paid £5 and he gave £4 to his sister. He is on board HMS Princess and will be sent to Plymouth on the first available ship.
Folios 77-78: Thomas Hughes, Town Clerk's Office, Liverpool, 11 March 1811. Writes about William Williams, a landsman on board HMS Princess, and asks for his discharge on finding a substitute. He states that Williams is a poor Welsh lad aged about 19 who absconded from his master, a farmer near Abergelley, Denbighshire, in January leaving his poor aged mother. Arriving at Liverpool he was tricked onto going on board HMS Princess when he received £5 for acting as a substitute. His late master is willing to provide money to release him if a substitute can be found
