Folios 70-71: James Galloway, HMS Princess, Liverpool.
Replying to a letter dated 4 March 1811 directing him to communicate with Admiral Sir Robert Calder when he wants more ships to take men to Plymouth . He states that he has always applied to the Admiral and that a recent letter informed him that the tender HMS Elizabeth had sailed from Plymouth on 24 January but that it had still not arrived. He asks for a vessel to be sent from another port.
He reports that Laurence Nelson had supplied information about a plan by many men to take possession of the ship when the lighter was alongside. Galloway seized one of the men who asked for forgiveness and related that many of the men are American citizens and prime seamen. Others have been punished. He stresses that having so many men without any employment will inevitably lead to trouble.
Folios 72: enclosure with folios 70-71. Dated 15 March 1881 a note asking that Admiral Calder send HMS Humber[?] from Falmouth to Liverpool to bring away the impressed men .
