Folios 158-159: David Gilmour, Gosport. Request to be put on the list of retired Masters and Commanders, commonly known as the Out Pensioners of Greenwich Hospital. The only recommendation he can give is the incident of his remaining with HMS Guardian during her distress, and obtaining his present rank owing to a capture on the Dutch Expedition in 1799. He has not enjoyed the benefit of any public employment for several years owing to a long and tedious illness with rheumatism, which has left him a cripple.
