Folios 143-144: James Galloway, HMS Princess, Liverpool. Returns Benjamin Cheetham's letter. He has complied with the contents of the letter to Captain Carter of the Impress Service at Liverpool. Benjamin Cheetham appears on the books of HMS Princess as a volunteer, entered on 1 November 1806 and is now 29 years old. He is rated Able Seaman, a native of Lancaster. His wife is on board and acts as Matron at the Hospital, for which he receives the usual allowance.
Folios 145-146: enclosure with folios 143-144: Benjamin Cheetham, HMS Princess, 1 June 1810. He is an ordinary seaman on board HMS Princess, and his allowance of half pay is insufficient to support his wife and family. His friends have scraped together enough money to apply for a substitute and he requests his release.
