Folios 265-267: Edward Grey, Regulating Captain, Hull. Receipt of letter with one enclosed from Mr Gleadon requesting the discharge of Edward Pratt who has been impressed and is now on board a tender. Edward Pratt, an Able Seaman aged 28, was impressed by Lieutenant George Fox on 2 [march 1808] from a brig from London. He had a Greenland Protection for the Emperor of Hull but the ship was not intended to go on the voyage to Greenland so he kept him for the service. He has a wife who is very il and 4 children.
Folios 267-269: enclosure with folios 265-267. Letter dated 12 march 1808 from Robert Gleadon, Ship Builder, Hull to the Lords Commissioners of the Admiralty, London. Edward Pratt, late spec[k]tioneer of the Emperor Gereenlandman of Hull expecting the ship to be going this season was impressed on his return from a coasting voyage by HMS Sheerness tender. His family is in a state of distress. His wife is ill in bed and not expected to get better and has 4 small children. Asks for directions for Captain Grey to accept 2 landsmen in his place.
