Folios 224-225: Edward Leveson Gower, 37 Queen Anne St, London. As Captain Jaleel Brenton has now been tried by court martial for the loss of HMS Minerve, asks if he can similarly be tried for the loss of HMS Shannon. Believes that there are two Midshipmen currently in England who were on board when she went aground, Francis Little who is on HMS Amethyst at Portsmouth and Samuel Robinson, whose address he does not have. He would ask that various commanders in chief be asked to report what other men now under their command were aboard the Shannon when she was lost. Reminds the Admiralty that Commander Edward Pelham Brenton, who was then in HMS Merlin but is now in HMS Amaranthe, set fire to the Shannon's hull and will probably be able to testify to the damage she had received in going aground and the impossibility of getting her off, as he himself reported to Lord Keith at the time.
