Folios 80-81: Henry Richard Glynn, Regulating Captain, Poole Rendezvous. Reports that Stephen Elliot was impressed by Lieutenant Joseph Barwick on 25 July. He is aged 20 and previously ran away from his Master and entered the Navy in 1803, being subsequently discharged in May of 1804. Understands that he has been at sea in privateers and in the merchant service. His Master, Richard Wills, admits there is no prospect of keeping him as an apprentice. Captain Glynn has sent Elliot to Portsmouth.
Folios 82-83: enclosed with folios 80-81. Letter from Messrs Chenitt & Wills, Poole, to the Admiralty. Report that their apprentice Stephen Elliot was impressed the previous day and is being held at the rendezvous. They say he had never been to sea before the date of his indentures, and enclose documents [no longer present] showing that he was previously discharged from HMS Eurydice by order of the Admiralty. Ask for his discharge.
Folio 84: enclosed with folios 82-83. Affidavit sworn by Richard Wills before John Strong, Mayor of Poole, 25 July 1807. Swears that Stephen Elliot bound himself as apprentice to Mr Wills and his partner James Chenitt in June 1802 and had never been to sea before that date.
