Folios 438-439: Edward Grey, Regulating Captain, Hull. In reply to a report from Rear Admiral Rowley concerning George Campbell, said to be American, impressed in Hull during March and his protection destroyed. There is no named person on the books at or near that time. There was no impress at Hull at that time on account of no available vessel to hold men. The impress began on 2nd April when HMS Caroline and Fortune arrived. Enquiries have been made of the midshipmen at that time and Lieutenant Dillon was discharged on 21 April to join the African frigate. The Officers at Hull under Captain Grey’s orders state they have never destroyed a protection belonging to an arrested person. Any doubt concerning an American while regulating, the American Consul is present. The daily report of ships in the Humber is enclosed.
Folio 440: enclosure with folios 438-439. A daily reported dated 13 December 1803 by Edward Grey, Regulating Captain, Hull, to the Admiralty. HMS Helder, Snipe, Gellykhied and Sheerness tender.
