Folios 235-236: Edward Leveson-Gower, HMS Shannon, The Nore. Encloses a letter form the Boatswain of his ship. This reads that the Boatswain is invalided and unfit for service and Captain Leveson-Gower asks to a replacement to be appointed.
Folios 237-238: enclosure with folios 235-236. Letter dated 13 October 1803 by Mr. Gilligin, Boatswain, HMS Shannon to Captain Edward Leveson-Gower, HMS Shannon. Informs of his ill-health following wounds received on HMS Resource in 1797 under Captain Watkins. In 1801 on HMS Sussex he was found unfit for sea service and appointed to ship building. He is on the Surgeon’s sick list and asks for a ship in an inactive role.
