Folios 291-292: John Gore, HMS Medusa at Spithead.
Writes to inform them of HMS Medusa's arrival at Spithead, as per orders from Commodore Sutton, and reports that she is extremely leaky having not been caulked since she was commissioned, also that having been fitted with remanufactured cordage it is now worn and decayed, so that the masts and yards are not safe at sea with it. If they intend to send her to sea therefore, he would like to be informed so that he can apply for a full survey of the rigging.
