Folios 285-286: John Gore, HMS Medusa in the Downs.
In reply to Admiralty letter of 12 August, reproving him and Captain Spranger for having sent a joint representation. Says he has sent it on to Spranger, and that he has always been taught that 'where officers were actuated by similar considerations and under similar circumstances' as he and Spranger are, their ships being very alike, 'nothing could be more officially regular' than a joint representation. Admiratly note on rear asks to see his previous correspondence.
