Folios 296-297: Anselm John Griffiths, HMS Atalante, Hamoaze. Covering letter for the enclosed forwarded to him for his personal and report addressed to you by Lieutenant [John] Brumhall of HMS Atalante. Having already reported to you information on the excuses offered by him for his neglect. Repeats that although not fully satisfactory yet being so in part and he appearing sensible of his error. Has no doubt their Lordships will be satisfied therewith.
Folios 298-299: enclosure with folios 296-297. Letter dated 8 May 1799 by John Brumhall, HMS Atalante, Plymouth, to the Admiralty. Reports joining HMS Atalante today and states the reason for his delay was an unforseen accident.
