Folios 174-175: Edward Leveson Gower, HMS Castor, Cove of Cork. Report that in consequence of orders from Vice Admiral [Sir William] Waldegrave [(1st Baron Radstock, of Castletown)], I sailed from St Johns Newfoundland on 24 October 1799 with 31 Sail of vessels for the Coast of Portugal. Ten other vessels received Convoy instructions but did not obey my signals to sail. [Details of the voyage]. HMS Castor being in need of rope I thought it my duty to put in here. I enclose a list of my Convoy [not present], my Journal [not ptesent] an dthe Defects of HMS Castor.
