Description

Folios 145-146: John Gore, HMS Triton, Hamoaze. Having been given to understand by a letter from Captain William Pierrepont that the Judge of the Admiralty Court has desired to be informed by what Authority the Bullion was landed from the Santa Brigida & El Thetis [Tetis]. He is desired in the names of the Captains to inform that we considered the Order which the Admiralty gave for it's being received into the Dock Yard at this Port in consequence of an application from Captain [William] Pierrepont was ample authority. We embraced the office of Lieutenant General Grenville to put it in a secure place in His Majesty's Citadel. [Total of three sides with details of the situation].

Folio 147: enclosure with folios 145-146. Admiralty. To Captain John Gore, [HMS Triton]. Dated 14 November 1799. Has sent a copy of your letter to me, to the Secretary at War, with a desire that he will furnish the necessary escort to the waggons, and he wishes to know from you what day the first Division will leave Plymouth. You are aware that he desired an order of Court for 560,000 of the Dollars to be delivered over to Commissioner Fanshawe. Has written to General Grenville requesting he will allow the 560,000 to remain [there until a decision].

Folio 148: enclosure with folios 145-16 [Admiralty note] 5 November 1799. Let me see the letters written to them and the Commissioners.
