Description

Folios 143-144: John Gore, HMS Triton, Hamoaze. Reports the case of John Williams late Boatswain of HMS Triton. He states for your information"that respecting any leave which Mr Boger late 1st Lieutenant might have given him to go on shore on his private business, he is not acquainted with or does it relate to the matter in question. He went to Plymouth Hospital (as he then supposed) before we sailed in consequence of his illness but on our return he found he had not been there, during our cruise he was discharged sick in the Books on 2 September 1798 and Ephrain Thompson appointed in his room who still continues on board. There has been some confusion with a Seaman named John Williams marked Run on the Books on 2 September 1798 and No 278.
