Folios 253-254: Sir Erasmus Gower, HMS Triumph, Spithead. Reports Henry Edward Davis, late Edward Mullis was sent to HMS Triumph from HMS Royal William, 27 January 1795. Is a volunteer and received the Kings Bounty deserted 19 December. Aged 22 years, five foot seven inches tall. Has a speech impediment and is from Bath. Was formerly in the army and obtained discharge for feigning lunacy. Davis’s father is a tradesman and lives near Bath. Says The Duke of Clarence and York has business with his father who got him a commission for the Marines. The father wrote requesting he discharge his son as he would give him a commission for the army. Father and son are in |London soliciting appointments by applying to Mr Thomas Lloyd, General Post Office where he directed his father’s letters.
