Folios 228-229: Henry Thomas Gott, London. Requests confirmation of his son’s commission to HMS Drake from Vice Admiral Parker. Sends duplicate.
Folios 230-231: enclosed in folios 228-229. Letter dated 22 September 1796 by Vice Admiral Sir William Parker, Grooms Hill, Greenwich to Sir Henry Gott, Newland near Beaconsfield, Bucks. Says he had much satisfaction in appointing his son. Sir Phillip Stephens printed a duplicate to send to the Admiralty. Says he is a most deserving young man. He only had one captain die while he was abroad and he did not hear of his death until after his son was appointed.
