Folios 120-121: Sir Erasmus Gower, HMS Triumph, Portsmouth. Reynolds has arrived in the Amazon and is stationed on the coast of France under Sir Sydney Smith, one of his lieutenants has been in sick quarters for six weeks and is unlikely to leave. Reynolds would write for Mr Littlehales but for fear of giving offence to his first Lieutenant who Littlehales must supersede as being an older officer.
